Servant Leader

Servant leadership - Servant leadership is an approach to leadership development, coined and defined by Robert Greenleaf and advanced by several authors such as Stephen Covey, Peter Block, Peter Senge, Max De Pree, Margaret Wheatley, Ken Blanchard, and others. Servant-leadership emphasizes the leader's role as steward of the resources (human, financial and otherwise) provided by the organization.

Follow the Leader (game) - First a leader or "head of the line" is chosen, then the children all line up behind the leader. The leader then moves around and all the children have to mimic the leader's actions players who mess up or do not do what the leader does are out of the game, and the last person standing other than the leader is now the new leader.

Abdiel - Abdiel (Hebrew for "Servant of God") is a Seraph in the Sepher Raziel and in Milton's Paradise Lost. In the Bible, Abdiel is the father of Ahi, a clan leader of the tribe of Gad (1 Chronicles 5:15).

Wolfgang Kapp - Wolfgang Kapp (July 24 1858–June 12 1922) was an East Prussian civil servant and journalist. He was a strict nationalist, and a nominal leader of the so-called Kapp Putsch that took place in Weimar Republic in 1920.

Focus on Leadership: Servant-Leadership for the 21st Century by Larry C. Spears,
From FOCUS ON LEADERSHIP . . . Robert K. Greenleaf from "The Servant as Leader" "The servant-leader is servant first. Becoming a servant-leader begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead.... The best test is this: Do those served grow as persons? Do they, while being served, become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to become servants?" Ken Blanchard from "The Heart of Leadership" "I truly believe that servant-leadership has never been more applicable to the world of leadership than it is today. Not only are people looking for a deeper purpose servant leader and meaning when they must meet the challenges of todays changing world; they are also looking for principles servant leader and philosophies that actually work. Servant-leadership works. Servant-leadership is about getting people to a higher level by leading people at a higher level." Stephen R. Covey from "Servant-Leadership servant leader and Community Leadership in the Twenty-First Century" "Anyone can be a servant-leader. Any one of us can take initiative ourself; it doesnt require that we be appointed a leader, but it does require that we operate from moral authority. The spirit of servant-leadership is the spirit of moral authority." Margaret Wheatley from "The Work of the Servant-Leader" "I believe that Greenleaf knew so much, was accessing so much of what I would call eternal wisdom when he said the criterion of successful servant-leadership is that those that we serve are healthier servant leader and wiser servant leader and freer servant leader and more autonomous, servant leader and perhaps they even loved our leadership so much that they want to serve others also." Warren Bennis from"Become a Tomorrow Leader" "Too many organizations are overmanaged servant leader and underled because the people at the top are better at making policies, practices, servant leader and procedures than they are at creating a compelling, overarching vision. They are managers, not leaders.

The best test is this: Do those served grow as persons? Do they, while being served, become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to become servants?" Stephen R. Covey from "Servant-Leadership from the Inside Out" "You may be able to buy someone's hand servant leader and back, but you cannot buy their heart, mind, servant leader and spirit. And in the competitive reality of today's global marketplace, it will be only those organizations whose people not only willingly volunteer their tremendous creative talent, commitment, servant leader and loyalty, but whose organizations align their structures, systems, servant leader and management style to support the empowerment of their people that will survive servant leader and thrive as market leaders." Ken Blanchard from "Servant-Leadership Revisited" "With the traditional pyramid, the boss is always responsible servant leader and the staff are supposed to be responsive to the boss. When you turn the pyramid upside down, those roles get reversed. Your people become responsible servant leader and the job of management is to be responsive to their people. That creates a very different environment for implementation. If you work for your people, then what is the purpose of being a manager? To help them accomplish their goals. Your job is to help them win." INSIGHTS ON LEADERSHIP CONTRIBUTORS Stephen R. Covey Larry C. Spears Robert K. Greenleaf Ken Blanchard Elizabeth Jeffries Joe Batten Lawrence J.
